16-19 Tuition Fund Statement

The ESFA have established a 16 to 19 tuition fund to help mitigate the disruption to learning arising from COVID-19.

The funding is being provided to support small group tuition for students aged 16 to 19 years in English, maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted. Although the tuition does not need to be for GCSE English or maths, schools have been asked to prioritise support for students who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths who have experienced additional disruption to learning.

The money allocated to Bennett Memorial Diocesan School will be used to prioritise support for disadvantaged students who have not achieved a grade 4 in English and/or maths, including students with special educational needs and disabilities.

This will be delivered by a mix of both teaching and support staff who have the appropriate knowledge, skills, and experience. Tuition will take place during the school day and students will be in small groups that will not normally exceed five in number. The focus will be on supporting and guiding students with their practice in English and Maths, which will include some online provision.
