Tenax Trust head and previous Bennett headteacher goes to the Palace!
Ian Bauckham last week received the CBE from His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace during an investiture ceremony. Mr Bauckham, who leads the Tenax Schools Trust and for many years was headteacher of Bennett Memorial Diocesan School, one of the most popular and high performing schools in the South East, was awarded the honour for his services to education. Speaking after the ceremony Mr Bauckham said: “I am both delighted and humbled to accept this award, and pay tribute to the many great educationalists and teachers with whom I have worked over the years both locally and nationally, including all those at Bennett. Offering an outstanding education to our young people is one of the most important investments we make in the future and I am proud to have made a small contribution to this work, particularly in the context of our Church of England schools.” As well as his leadership of schools in our area, Mr Bauckham has a number of other national roles, including advising the Department for Education and the Church of England, inspecting schools and leading the Association of Schools and College Leaders of which he was national president from 2013-2014.
